Eva Belishova grew up in an Albania closed to the world, where beauty had to be found in secret. When she finally reached Italy and stood before the Old Masters, and later when she discovered the Bay-filtered light of Sausalito, she began searching for a way to hold onto moments that feel too fragile and fleeting to survive in solid paint. The answer she found was in the tap — a single small gesture, repeated thousands of times, each one releasing a micro-droplet of oil that settles according to its own quiet logic. Water Lily Pond at Dusk was born from that practice: a pond surface at the hour when daylight loosens its grip, when greens deepen toward grey and blossoms glow faintly like lanterns left behind.
