Cataract

This is John Beuttler at full force — a detonation of Southwest energy exploding outward from a dark, churning core. Jagged lines slash across the canvas like arroyos carved by flash floods, while burnt sienna and rust-orange planes collide with graphite grey in a composition that radiates pure kinetic power. This is not art that sits quietly on a wall; it commands the room. Built from decades of location sketching across the American Southwest, Beuttler's MFA-trained eye transforms raw landscape memory into pure abstraction. The layered marks — ink, pastel, wash — reveal a working process that is simultaneously instinctive and rigorously composed. Each line feels inevitable, each color plane hard-earned. This is the kind of work that grows richer the longer you live with it. For the discerning collector, this piece represents a rare intersection of academic pedigree and unbridled creative freedom. Beuttler's cross-disciplinary career — fine art, film, advertising — infuses this work with a visual sophistication that transcends genre. Acquire it as the bold centerpiece your collection has been waiting for.
