Julie Again

Bold, commanding, and impossibly alive — this striking figurative portrait crackles with the spirit of the American Southwest. A woman in a wide-brimmed cowboy hat turns her gaze directly at you, her warm terracotta skin luminous against a dreamlike backdrop of snow-capped desert mountains and shimmering blue sky. This is not a passive image; it pulls you in, holds you still, and dares you to look away. John Beuttler's years of location painting across the US Southwest — combined with a career spanning fine art, film, and advertising — converge here in a work of rare confidence and cinematic presence. The figure dominates the canvas with the authority of a film still, every tone and shadow applied with the deliberate hand of an MFA-trained painter who has spent decades mastering visual storytelling. For the discerning collector, this piece offers both emotional immediacy and lasting depth. It bridges portraiture and landscape, West Coast sensibility and frontier mythology, making it a powerful statement work for a home, office, or curated collection. Figurative works of this scale and mastery rarely remain available — this is a piece that defines a room.
