Sayulta, Playa los Muertos

This is John Beuttler at his most visceral — a charged, churning composition where form erupts from a luminous field of ash and bone white, pulling the eye inward through layers of raw umber, sandstone, and deep indigo. Every mark carries the kinetic memory of a seasoned MFA-trained hand that has sketched the canyons and mesas of the American Southwest, then distilled that raw energy into pure painterly instinct. This is not decoration — it is pure visual force. Collectors who understand the arc of abstract expressionism will immediately recognize the confidence behind this work. The restrained palette of neutrals punctuated by sudden blue accents gives this piece a rare sophistication that works in both contemporary and classical interiors. As Beuttler's profile continues to grow within the Marin arts community and beyond, early acquisitions of works like this represent both cultural and investment value. This is a piece that rewards long looking — a work that will deepen in meaning with every year it lives on your wall.
