Blanket Flowers

**Blanket Flowers** Brilliant red-orange blanket flowers with sunny yellow centers reach upward against a vibrant patchwork of golden yellow and sky blue. Their expressive petals, dark hand-drawn outlines, and slender stems give the flowers an animated, almost whimsical personality. Bold black-and-white graphic stripes add another layer of movement, creating a composition that is energetic, colorful, and full of visual surprises. Beneath the flowers, layers of vintage newspaper, sheet music, postage, printed illustrations, and handwritten fragments create a rich collage of images and words. Among the discoveries are quotations about creativity, courage, and the importance of beginning something new. These bits of ephemera are more than background decoration; they become part of the painting's story, inviting the viewer to pause, look closer, and find connections of their own. Inspired by the cheerful persistence of blanket flowers, this painting celebrates bold ideas, creative possibility, and the beauty of things that bloom where they are planted. It is a joyful reminder that sometimes all it takes is a little color, a little courage, and the willingness to begin. **Mixed media on gallery-wrapped canvas**
