Marmot and Lupine

This is the shot that stops a room cold — a hoary marmot rising upright from a sea of violet lupine and white wildflowers, a bloom clutched boldly in its mouth as if it owns every square inch of this alpine meadow. Rob Badger has spent more than 50 years waiting for moments exactly like this, and the patience, precision, and sheer mastery of field craft behind this frame are unmistakable. The colour palette alone — layered purples, electric greens, and creamy whites flooding the entire frame — would command attention as a botanical landscape. The marmot transforms it into something rarer: a once-in-a-career wildlife encounter locked in time. Collectors who invest in Badger's work acquire not just a photograph but a document of a living world under pressure. This meadow — likely in the Cascades or Rockies — represents the kind of high-altitude wildflower habitat that is measurably shifting with climate. The image carries the quiet urgency that has earned Badger Sierra Club Ansel Adams Award recognition and placements in institutional collections from Kaiser Permanente to the James Irvine Foundation. It is both joyful and irreplaceable. As a large-format fine art print, this photograph radiates from a wall with cinematic depth and natural warmth. It appeals equally to wildlife enthusiasts, conservation-minded collectors, and interior designers seeking a signature nature piece with genuine provenance. Limited-edition availability only amplifies its long-term value.
