Some bouquets sit quietly in a vase. This one explodes. In Flowers, Sergey Cherep brings the full force of his Post-Impressionist vision to a classic still-life subject — and the result is anything but classic. A vibrant arrangement of vivid reds, luminous whites, and soft purples erupts upward and outward from a sleek dark vase, petals and stems flung across the canvas with joyful, barely-contained energy. Against a swirling, luminous ground of electric teal and ice blue, worked in Cherep's signature thick impasto brushwork, the blooms seem genuinely alive — catching light, catching air, refusing to stand still. Flashes of yellow, scattered white dots, and gestural streaks radiate outward like the afterglow of something beautiful just set loose. Painted in 2025 on a 36" × 36" deep canvas, this is Cherep reminding us that, as he puts it, a painting should feel like a fairy tale — and delivering on that promise completely. Signed by the artist.
