Winter's Reverie

The composition is divided between a tumultuous teal and white foreground sea — built up in thick, sculptural layers — and a pale periwinkle-grey sky worked with dragged and feathered strokes. Flashes of warm ochre and earth tones punctuate the horizon line, adding chromatic tension to an otherwise cool palette. The surface texture is pronounced and object-like, consistent with Bruschi's process of layering, scraping, and reworking. Mood is simultaneously energizing and expansive — an abstracted seascape that reads as both landscape and pure painterly event.
