Submersion

The composition moves from a dense chromatic cluster of indigo, crimson, and burnt orange in the upper left through a large, anchoring black form at center, dissolving into pale grey-blue at the lower register. Embedded graphite and drawn marks — including legible text fragments 'GO DEEP' and 'WHY NOT SUMMER' — weave through the surface, blurring the line between painting and diary. The mood is simultaneously contemplative and urgent, the palette wide-ranging but held together by the expansive white field. A strong example of Bruschi's approach: abstract expressionist in energy, deeply personal in content, and physically compelling in surface texture.
