Zaria Petals

This is Sherri Lynn Carroll at her most joyfully uncontainable — a canvas that pulses with the same bright, spinning energy that defines her Lively Vortex studio. A velvet-black guinea pig, painted with the precision of her early photorealistic watercolor training, commands the center of a swirling cosmos of sound and bloom. Behind him a djembe drum rises like a golden sun; at his side rests a hand-painted kalimba jeweled in dotwork blues and golds; and cascading across every surface are the blazing orange, red and burgundy faces of nasturtiums. The background doesn't sit still — it spirals and sparks in cobalt, teal, violet and rainbow dashes, as if the air itself is keeping rhythm. This piece is a collector's dream precisely because it does what very few artists dare: it takes the deeply familiar — a beloved small pet, garden flowers, folk instruments from across the world — and lifts them into the surreal without losing a single thread of warmth or humor. The detail in the guinea pig's fur alone justifies a long, close look; the dotwork on the kalimba rewards even longer. Acrylic on canvas, finished with Sherri's characteristic luminous layering, this is a work that holds its own on any wall, from a bright coastal living room to a collector's gallery. Original works from Sherri's guinea pig series are among her most sought-after, beloved by collectors who want something genuinely joyful in their homes. With her growing profile on Oahu and a career spanning more than two decades of professional murals and fine art, now is the moment to bring a piece of the Lively Vortex into your collection.
