Songs for Butterflies

This is Sherri Lynn Carroll at full Lively Vortex power — a canvas that practically throbs with sound and motion. Two hand-crafted drums, a djembe and a larger ceremonial barrel drum, anchor the composition with photorealistic precision, every lacing cord and carved detail rendered with the patient exactitude of her early watercolor training. Around them the world refuses to stand still: great sweeping arcs of cobalt blue, solar yellow, lush green, and volcanic red spin outward like a living galaxy of rhythm. Floating free in this chromatic storm are a plumeria blossom pair glowing like small lanterns, an iridescent orange butterfly caught mid-drift, and a beautifully observed kalimba — the whole ensemble a surrealist still life that makes music visible. This is not decoration; it is an experience. Collectors drawn to the intersection of world-music culture, Hawaiian spirit, and bold contemporary painting will find this piece impossible to overlook on any wall. As an original acrylic from a licensed working artist with more than two decades of mural and fine-art production, this painting carries real provenance and rarity. It is the kind of statement work that anchors a collection and starts conversations — vibrant enough to energize a living space, detailed enough to reward long looking.
