The View

Zorica Pavićević spent decades building things that had to hold — structures calculated to bear weight, resist pressure, and stand through time. When she finally set architecture aside and returned to paint, she didn't leave that instinct behind. She brought it with her. This painting is the result: a canvas built the way a structure is built, from the inside out, layer by layer, pressure finding form. The composition erupts from a dense, tangled core — a swirling convergence of chartreuse, orange, and earth — and pushes outward toward an upper right corner washed in cool, luminous grey, as if the energy is reaching for something it hasn't yet named. The thin black lines that fracture the surface aren't accidents; they are the cracks that appear when something is under immense force, the tension lines of a form testing its own limits. In them, you feel the architect's eye — the knowledge that beauty and structure are never truly separate. There is something deeply personal in this work, something that speaks to the experience of beginning again: leaving a country, a career, a version of oneself, and finding that the force you carried all along was always meant to become this. The painting doesn't resolve into calm. It holds its charge. And that, perhaps, is exactly the point.
